The FJ Owners Club has been running 24 years now and for the last 21 years it has been Docs full time job. His back ground stems from being an Aircraft Technician on fast jets in the RAF so it was an easy and natural progression to open up a Club workshop.
Mark ‘Ernie’ Lodge has had 16 years experience of stripping and servicing FJR’s under his belt since they were introduced in 2001 and he’s more of a FJR anorak than Doc.
Jake 'Peg' Udall works alongside Doc and Ernie and is a fully trained Motorcycle Mechanic with 6 years experience of FJR's and FJ's under his belt. He also will service many other makes of motorcycle to the same standard as the FJ and FJR's.
The FJR Centre was set up just to specialise in the FJR1300 model.
The Clubs workshop has built up an excellent name and now boasts 5 star accreditation with the Good Dealer scheme (see www.gooddealerscheme.co.uk) with its quality of workmanship, it's massive knowledge of this one make (including the FJ models) and, as a bonus, low price parts and labour charges. (these are up to 50% cheaper that normal dealer prices).
This all means that it can be very busy in the spring and summer months, and then being quieter in the winter months. To ease this we have set up two labour price structures, so encouraging a better spread of work.
Many members forget that if a major service is due annually, then its not important if the job is done in February or August, your linkages will still be greased, your shims will still not have gone out of adjustment etc. Doc has always serviced his bike at the end of a year; this allows him to have a busy spring/summer riding the bike instead of servicing or repairing it.
To thank those who regularly bring their FJR here for its annual servicing etc. we will continue to offer a discount if the service has been carried out beforeby the club and is carried out within the Yamaha service schedule (see maintenance and service schedule in clubs catalogue) sequentially and continuouslyat the clubs workshop. This discount will be reduced by half for members who do their own 6k services but bring the bike to the club workshop for 12K and 24K services. We dont like to discourage members from doing their own minor services as the workshop may be a large distance for some members to travel for a small service.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU BOOK YOUR FJR INTO A LOCAL DEALER FOR THE 12,000 SERVICE, MAKE SURE YOU SHOW HIM THE COPY OF THE WORK NEEDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE YAMAHA SERVICING SCHEDULE.
YOU MAY END UP PAYING £200 JUST FOR AN OIL AND FILTER CHANGE AND A TYRE KICK.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Thank you for your support and please book early for the summer period.
All charges are for Labour Only and exclude VAT and Parts
You will need to get your bike to the workshop for 9.30 am for all services unless by prior arrangementment
